Hi There! We are Rob and Laura Cimbalik. Cascade is home for us as we raise our three kiddos. In 2022 we decided we were ready to start an adventure as a family, exploring a new way to approach education. We desired that our kids could grow at a pace that fit their individual needs. A place that fosters a love of learning and helps them learn how to become life-long learners by exposing them to real-life skills needed to flourish in our world.
There was also a desire to equip them with a strong Biblical foundation while they are young. So that, when it is time for them to enter the world they will be kids with hearts that are set apart for the Lord, fully knowing the identity that they have in Christ and allowing God to use them to bring Him glory.
Little did we know that this adventure would lead us to start a small school, also known as a micro-school. We hired a guide and our little adventure, Evergreen Academy, began.
Since we began thinking about starting our own school, Acton Academy has always stood out to us. Their learner-driven model, with self-paced learning and lots of hands-on learning, was a big inspiration as we began building our school. Even though Acton was a little out of our reach in the beginning, we still tried to glean as much knowledge of their learning model as we could.
Our school soon began to grow, as we added new learners and moved into a new space. We quickly realized that there was a lot about running a school we still didn't know. We felt like there were systems and processes that we needed in place, but weren't quite sure what those were or what they looked like.
In the fall of 2024, we decided to reopen the potential of becoming an Acton Academy. After going through the audition process, raising start-up funds, and going through orientation, as of January 2025, we officially became an Acton Academy. There is still much to do and learn, but we are excited for the future and can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for this school.
